a little over 2 days ago, ive had some trouble yawning, it feels like i need to yawn, but then it wont come out. it gets really anoyying because i used to frequently yawn before, i dont have asthma and i dont think i have heart problemhaving trouble yawnings,i dont have any respiratory problems either

I couple months ago I went to get my vision checked, since I was having some issues reading up close. It turned out that I'm farsighted, so the doctor gave me a prescription. I went back a week later to have my pupils dilated, and when the drops put in my eyes, took effect, I couldn't see anything.
The doctor said that me not being able to see from far away with my pupils dilated, meant that my prescription was much, much higher. After examining me, it turned out that my left eye prescription is +2.75 and my right is +3.50. Totally off from his initial prescription of +1.00 and +1.50.
He said I couldn't get all the prescription at once, because I was not going to be able to handle it, and that he would gradually increase it. I know with time my vision will most likely get worse and my prescription will need to be increased.
I can still see perfectly, the only thing is that things that I could read from a closer range, I now have to put a little farther away from my eyes to focus on it, but it's not like I have to put it 50 feet away.
My question is, what's the reason from having to reach such high prescriptions in a short period of time? if my vision is still good, I can still see fine from far away and can still read from a "normal" distance. Will my vision get really bad from one day to the other?
He didn't give me an explanation as to why, and I'm very curious to know why.

for example if you are 20 it is about +0.75 and +1.75
if you are older 45 it may be +2.75 and +3.5
last, if you see clear easily without glasses, dont ude it at all !
People who have hyperopia (need a "+" prescription), like yourself, have "short" eye balls. To see clearly, the rays of light from whatever object we're looking at must fall on the retina. (the retina is the back part of the eye that turns light signals into electric signals, which are sent to the brain). With hyperopia, the rays of light automatically fall behind the retina. To focus the light on your retina (to see clearly), you can accommodate (change the shape of the lens inside your eye) OR you can focus the light with an outside lens (glasses or contacts).
When we're young, we have a great ability to accommodate. As we age, the lens inside our eye hardens. This happens to everyone. When you were younger you had more flexibility in the lens inside your eye so you could "compensate" for your eye being a little short. You have to accommodate a little to see clearly in the distance. (sounds like this is no problem for your lens). For everyone, it takes more accommodation to see clearly up close (about 3 diopters of focussing power at 1/3 of a meter). This gets harder as the lens inside our eyes starts to harden with age (again, normal).
The dilating drops you were given temporarily paralyzed the muscles in the eye that can change the shape of the lens in your eye. This allows your doctor to take an objective meaprescription questionssure of what sort of prescription you may need (without you being able to accommodate your lens, which is probably what you did before you got the eye drops without even knowing it) All along your prescription was closer to what your doctor found after you had your eyes dilated. Your prescription didn't change suddenly, the drops just forced the muscles that change the shape of your lens to relax.
When people are older than approximately elementary school and are hyperopic, like yourself, it is often quite a "shock" to your visual system to suddenly switch to using glasses or contacts in their full strength to see clearly, when all along you had just been changing the shape of your lens in your eye. It sounds like this is the reason your doctor didn't want to give you your "full prescription" all at once. Some adults who have some hyperopia never "accept" their full prescription.
I think your glasses (or contacts) will make you more comfortable, especially for reading. I would recommend going to an optical shop that will allow you to get different lenses for free if your doctor increases the amount of prescription he wants you to wear. (some optical shops do this within a certain time period).
PS- after reading your note, maybe you can ask your doctor if you can use your glasses mainly for reading. They'll probably be the most helpful at near. Also, with such a "wimpy" prescription- ask if you can try over the counter glasses- they're cheaper.

ob/gyn questionsWhy Are Women Asking OB GYN Questions On This Board?
Why are so many women asking questions on this board that they should be directing to their own doctors? Do they think the people on these boards know more about their medical histories than their own doctors do? Do they not trust their own doctors? Are they afraid or intimidated by their own doctors? Are they just lazy? What's the reason?
Questions by a person male or female are presented to this community in an effort to get some direction on a concern that the person has. As a professional therapist, I find myself indulging in many of these open questions and note that they are all questions I hear in my professional environment as well. Accordingly, they are for the most part shared concerns and certainly experienced by others as well.
A concern that is solved is relative to one person only, however, the solution can be constructive for others as well, and may lead to their own success and solutions. To this ends, a forum such as this is invaluable as a tool to find similar issues and potential paths to personal successes.
I hope this helps you see the issues more clearly.
I thought that made it clear I was talking specifically about medical problems, not "I feel alone and I need moral support" questions. But, I guess people only read what they want to read, not what is actually written.
Can they afford to see their doctors? In particular, can they afford to see their doctors if they don't really need to? Do they have a doctor to see? Do they need help to figure out how to approach their doctor? Do they not trust their own judgement on whether or not to see a doctor? Do they have the knowledge about their own bodies or about the topic in question to tell if they need to see a doctor or not?
Not everyone has the same knowledge level. Not everyone has received any type of sexuality education.
Why do some people judge others without having walked in that other person's shoes?
It's sometimes difficult to get an OB-Gyn appointment quickly even if you are having problems unless you are pregnant. Many want you to set your appointments months in ob/gyn questionsadvance. I know when I was having problems that I was very worried about no one would take me for less than 6 months--even though I wanted to be seen soon because I wasn't having my period when I should have been. They saw me in the lab to take a pregnancy test and told me outright I would not be able to get an appointment right away unless the test came back positive. I wasn't and so couldn't get an appointment. I ended up having to do my own research and getting an appointment with someone else to test for the cause I found. Sure enough, what I suspected was it.
So, being that it's so hard to get that appointment, women ask other women who may have faced similar problems in the hopes that they will have clue what is going on in the meantime. What most women don't realize is that even though they may have difficulty getting an appointment with their OB-Gyn, if there's a nurse practitioner on staff that will do the appointments, they'll have a much easier time getting an appointment with her. Unfortunately, most doctors' offices won't let you know this unless you ask about it.
Maybe they just want to know that somebody else out there knows what they are going through so they don't feel like they're the only one in the world this is happening to. Misery loves company.

Maybe it's because they want to know how other people have dealt w/ their issues. Talking to other people besides their doctors can give them insight, and options to bring to their next doctor appts. I think if it bothers you that maybe you should go to another question/answer section. Even though the whole point of this section of Yahoo is to ask questions and have others answer back.
I ob/gyn questionsam going to assume you are a male. Otherwise, you would realise how offense your comment could be. There are a million reason people post questions on here. Maybe they just want the insight. Some things that people are worried about are completely normal, but you dont know that til you get the insight from someone who has already experienced it. Maybe they cant get to a doctor right away, or dont have the insurance to cover their bills. They could be under-aged or just embarrassed. There are so many possibilities. This sight was made for the questions that a lot of these woman ask, so if it bothers you so much, then why dont you just avoid the "women's health" section?
How do you know they are not asking their doctors also? A lot of people just want to ask other people questions that might be embarassing and to hear their experiences. It's women helping other women.
They are gathering information and feedback from general society. Duh.

Perhaps they are looking for insight from other women. Maybe they want to see if other women had their problem & what steps they took to take care of it. Maybe they want to feel like they are not alone. Maybe you shouldn't spend so much time reading women's health questions. May be they can't afford a trip to the doctor & they are just trying to get by the best way they know how. Maybe you just don't understand the concept of emotional support. Maybe they want to get some different opinions so they can talk intelligently to their doctor once they get there.

What makes you think they are women asking the questions?
Questions by a person male or female are presented to this community in an effort to get some direction on a concern that the person has. As a professional therapist, I find myself indulging in many of these open questions and note that they are all questions I hear in my professional environment as well. Accordingly, they are for the most part shared concerns and certainly experienced by others as well.
A concern that is solved is relative to one person only, however, the solution can be constructive for others as well, and may lead to their own success and solutions. To this ends, a forum such as this is invaluable as a tool to find similar issues and potential paths to personal successes.
I hope this helps you see the issues more clearly.
I thought that made it clear I was talking specifically about medical problems, not "I feel alone and I need moral support" questions. But, I guess people only read what they want to read, not what is actually written.
Can they afford to see their doctors? In particular, can they afford to see their doctors if they don't really need to? Do they have a doctor to see? Do they need help to figure out how to approach their doctor? Do they not trust their own judgement on whether or not to see a doctor? Do they have the knowledge about their own bodies or about the topic in question to tell if they need to see a doctor or not?
Not everyone has the same knowledge level. Not everyone has received any type of sexuality education.
Why do some people judge others without having walked in that other person's shoes?
It's sometimes difficult to get an OB-Gyn appointment quickly even if you are having problems unless you are pregnant. Many want you to set your appointments months in ob/gyn questionsadvance. I know when I was having problems that I was very worried about no one would take me for less than 6 months--even though I wanted to be seen soon because I wasn't having my period when I should have been. They saw me in the lab to take a pregnancy test and told me outright I would not be able to get an appointment right away unless the test came back positive. I wasn't and so couldn't get an appointment. I ended up having to do my own research and getting an appointment with someone else to test for the cause I found. Sure enough, what I suspected was it.
So, being that it's so hard to get that appointment, women ask other women who may have faced similar problems in the hopes that they will have clue what is going on in the meantime. What most women don't realize is that even though they may have difficulty getting an appointment with their OB-Gyn, if there's a nurse practitioner on staff that will do the appointments, they'll have a much easier time getting an appointment with her. Unfortunately, most doctors' offices won't let you know this unless you ask about it.
Maybe they just want to know that somebody else out there knows what they are going through so they don't feel like they're the only one in the world this is happening to. Misery loves company.

I think if it bothers you that maybe you should go to another question/answer section. Even though the whole point of this section of Yahoo is to ask questions and have others answer back.
I ob/gyn questionsam going to assume you are a male. Otherwise, you would realise how offense your comment could be. There are a million reason people post questions on here. Maybe they just want the insight. Some things that people are worried about are completely normal, but you dont know that til you get the insight from someone who has already experienced it. Maybe they cant get to a doctor right away, or dont have the insurance to cover their bills. They could be under-aged or just embarrassed. There are so many possibilities. This sight was made for the questions that a lot of these woman ask, so if it bothers you so much, then why dont you just avoid the "women's health" section?

I am not trying to "put down" anyone who does have these questions. I just want to know why they are constantly asked... I mean why question life when you can simply go out and enjoy it? I know they are trying to "find meaning in their lives", but instead of searching for meaning, simply enjoy what you have and the let the meaning come to you.
I suppose I could be stereotyping these people... I am asking a question about questioning life...

Humans can never understand life until they stop taking it away from each other... We slaughter animals and waste them, we kill each other all the time, we kill harmless insects just because they're in the same room as us...
That is a good question. I am one of those constant philosophers who want to delve deeper into the meaning of life, time, space, you name it.
I can't really saywhy questions about life why I do that. But I do, and it fascinates me. That's not to say that I don't enjoy life. Maybe you are used to people questioning life who are also a bit on the depressed side? I question life with zeal and curiousity, much like a scientist on a mission to prove a hypothesis.
I think it's important for people to seek answers bigger than themselves. If we didn't have these types, things like "The World Is Flat" or, "The Planets Orbit Around Earth" or "Lightening Is God Striking Down With Anger" would still be widely accepted as truth, and life as we know it would be an even bigger mystery.

Because they are either introspective, cynical, or not ecstatic about life. A certain enthusiasm is required to blindly accept anything as is, including life. Without enthusiasm (source: bad event, humdrum life, life without any special events, melancholy, or reflective personalwhy questions about lifeity that limits excess of enthusiasm), one is more likely to engage in suspend judgment and think more in depth about some "given", that includes life.
IMHO, life ought not be just "lived". What kind of consequences?! It is best done with careful and weighty decision

First, try and determine what is causing this problem. Having trouble sleeping can be caused from stress, too much caffeine late in the day, or medical problems such as restless leg syndrome. Once you can find the underlying cause of this problem you can work on the cause to better improve your sleeping patterns.
In general you should not drink caffeine more than 3 hours before you go to bed as this will cause you to stay awake. Also, a warm cup of chamomile tea works wonders. You can also try reading, the back and forth eye movement you practice when reading mimics the eye movement in REM sleep, causing you to feel sleepy.
At bath and body works they have a spray that helps you fall alseep, I think it jsut tricks you into thinking ittrouble sleeping will help therefore it helps. Also take tylenol PM on nights that you really cant sleep. Its amazing and non habit forming

When I can't sleep I go out and run a mile or so, come back tired, shower and usually fall right to sleep.

I go into a R.E.M. state almost immediately, so I have no problems with feeling tired afterwards. I actually HATE sleeping. It is such a waste of time. Think about it: if you sleep 8 hours a day, when you turn 30, you've slept for 10 years of your life!!! That is rediculous!!!!

Hello, I have just finished the ROAD by Cormac McCarthy and I am heading towards some english projects. I need some help on the themes in the road with examples from the book on how it got developed. For example, the theme of altruism and HOPE.
Hope is a wonderful theme for that book - and you are very smart to pick up on that. Most peoplthe road by cormace do not see hope in it. Another theme that strikes me is abandonment. The first time they had to abandon a shopping cart with the toys in it, it broke my heart. Take that through to the ending and follow that subject (I don't want to spoil the ending - but I am sure you know what i mean by abandonment at the end).
Then you might explorethe road by cormac the subject of God in the story.
1) Is God in the story - if so where? If not - where did He go?
2) Did God do this - if so why?
3) If God didn't do it - why did He allow it to happen?

Over the years, my cat has slowly gained weight. He's at the high-end of the healthy weight scale and I'm looking for a good cat food will aid in his weight loss. He's been an inside cat for about 2 years now if that makes a different. Thanks for the help!
Science Diet has a great variety of foods and all my vets have recommended it. the indoor formulas of any cat food are usually formulated with less fat/calories since indoor cats tend to be a bit less active, but there are also "lite" versions of just about every variety.
You may also want to consider your cats age. If he is 7 years or older, go for the senior cat food, it compensates for the decline in activity as they get older and I think there are lite versions of the senior formula also.
Just be sure to follow the measurements for the appropriate amounts on the bag so you don't accidentally overfeed him.

well...I don't care how much weight you might think you need to lose...eating cat food is just NOT recommended. IT'S FOR CATS!!! NOT PEOPLE!!! Try cutting calories, increasing activity and eating smaller portions. Besides...cat food is mostly liver and ground up fish (bones, scales, guts etc.).
One thing to keep in mind is that cats should lose weight very slowly. Rapid weight loss can fatally damage their liver. So, be patient with the weight loss and don't try to drastically alter his diet all at once. Good luck...I'm the parent of a big cat, too.
Science diet may have a great variety but Science diets first two ingredients are Corn, and by-products. Both are fillers and can add weight and aren't healthy for your cat overall. The reason you vet recommended Science Diet is behealthy food weight losscause they are paid by Hills to recommend there food.
since i switched from iams to science diet my cat's eyes no longer run and she is much more alert. she gets wet food and dry food, just 1/4 cup a day of dry and a couple of tablespoons of wet and she looks better than ever at 17.
There are many reasons to feel you need to feed your kitten wet food and dry. But when they get older stay with dry. Wet has had bad results with teeth and gums. So every so often give it but I will stick with dry. My cat died with bad teeth and gums.
My vet recommend I stop using Hill's Pet Nutrition after the recall. Science diet is made by the same company, so I stay away from that brand as well! I now use Innova Evo. It is very high in protein and take less to keep my kitties full. I give them a 1/4 cup a day, and a half can of fancy feast.

You should look into premium food brands like Innova or Natural Balance. These have very little or no ash in the food, thus making your cat be truly and properly filled. This way your cat wont overeat.
Regular cat food has a lot of ash, which is nothing but fillers, to make the cat "filled with air", so to speak, and thus get hungry again faster.
Changing the food he eats isn't always necessary. Simply feed him 10% less kibble each day (for every 10 kernels, take one out) it's that easy! Once he reaches his target weight, keep the amount the same. Feed him in half or a third of his total daily amount in 2 or 3 meals, that way he feels less hungry throughout the day and will metabolize his meals more efficiently.

Our inside Siamese was an inside cat, and was 25lbs, at
least. After we got him fixed, we started letting him go outside a little bit at a time, with supervision of course (history of pine tree climbing.. not pretty).
We saw results in a month. The pounds were just flying off of him. He was less dependent on food, and got a lot of exercise.
I'd say get him fixed, and let him outside a little bit. Also, try finding a wide variety of toys he can play with inside. exercise and activity can make all the difference in the world.
Science Diet Light (my vet recommended it). Feed him twice daily, only 1/4c per serving. It seems like he's hardly getting anything but after a few weeks you should see a difference. I did with my cat.

The ride was suddenly inside, and me and some other friends were leaning against the cardboard walls to try and lever the ride up with the ceiling. THEN, we were all suddenly in this field, all tied to strings and we were bobbing up and down, being lifted up. The ropes were on pulleys on the ceiling, and these random dancers were pulling the other end of the ropes to make us lift up. We knew that one of us would be chosen for something. It was one of my friends that was chosen. She was lifted up really high, but then she got stuck in this wooden structured building. I went over to her, tried to climb up, got most of the way but then these people came along with a truck with a huge sloped platform that you could just walk down, so we were both rescued. Wow that was long and messed up xD

A) favorite book: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It's my favourite in the series and it's my favourite series. I love how it has teenagers much like us standing up for what they believe in beneath the oppression of some adults. I also love Sirius, Lupin and Tonks and love how they're all in and it has more of a family atmosphere than the other 6 books.
B) favorite color: I love purple. Dark purple like I don't know Cadbury purple. None of this lilac crap I've always hated pale colours.
C) what do you want to grow up to be? I'd love to be an actress and author. Be in movies and perhaps stage as well and write best selling fictional novels on the side. However I would settle for kindergarten teaching I love small children but as long as I ca write my novels I'll be happy.

I) finish this: once upon a time, there was... a little llama, who was green and red and stripy. He fell down a rabbit hole, and there he met a seagull. The seagull gave him a bunch of grapes, which the llama ate, but he accidently ate a perculiar orange grape. This made him grow wings. Because of his new-found wings, he could now fly out of the rabbit hole again, so he did so. dream book a zHowever, the hole was small so his wings were scraped off just as he left. The force of this made him fall back into the hole again...

M) strangest dream? - WELL. I went to this theme park place, and for some reason it was in the 1800s. There was this thing that was like a ferris wheel, only it was made of paper. Like those paper lanterns, turned sideways.. :L so my friend went on it, I didn't, and suddenly the ride hit the floor. The ride was suddenly inside, and me and some other friends were leaning against the cardboard walls to try and lever the ride up with the ceiling. THEN, we were all suddenly in this field, all tied to strings and we were bobbing up and down, being lifted up. The ropes were on pulleys on the ceiling, and these random dancers were pulling the other end of the ropes to make us lift up. We knew that one of us would be chosen for something. It was one of my friends that was chosen. She was lifted up really high, but then she got stuck in this wooden structured building. I went over to her, tried to climb up, got most of the way but then these people came along with a truck with a huge sloped platform that you could just walk down, so we were both rescued. Wow that was long and messed up xD

A) favorite book: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It's my favourite in the series and it's my favourite series. I love how it has teenagers much like us standing up for what they believe in beneath the oppression of some adults. I also love Sirius, Lupin and Tonks and love how they're all in and it has more of a family atmosphere than the other 6 books.
B) favorite color: I love purple. Dark purple like I don't know Cadbury purple. None of this lilac crap I've always hated pale colours.
C) what do you want to grow up to be? I'd love to be an actress and author. Be in movies and perhaps stage as well and write best selling fictional novels on the side. However I would settle for kindergarten teaching I love small children but as long as I ca write my novels I'll be happy.
D) if you could live anywhere, where would you live? For my wished for acting career LA is the best bet, I can learn how to do an American accent, attend a performing arts school and try my luck. However I am quite happy where I am.

I don't exactly hate any though it irks me more than anything.

I am now seventeen, it's prissy which doesn't 100% suit my personality but I love how it's not as common as playing the piano. When a person is committed to his wife/gf then adultery is like cheating & robbing. Besides , I believe that the early people formed the laws against adultery because it causes sexual diseases which are highly contagious and are incurable for life even today.
It is only to make people lead healthy life & for not spreading the disease in society these laws were formed from experience.
If you think I am wrong, do it at your peril, however if you get the disease , no one can save you.
Yes it is sin, it is wrong and will hurt you, your family, and if a christian you will pay for your sin, it hurts your relationship with God, if you have a problem with it, get counsel, the grass is not greener on the other side, you might find a rotten old apple, things are not as they always appear, the Devil makes it look good, but it's not and you will suffer, reap the consequences
No, I actually think that our restrictive form of marriage is not the natural state of human mating and in many cases causes more harm than it should. It should be noted that there are many different types of "marriage" across cultures and many of them are more successful than our "traditional" family (which is not that traditional, even by our standards).
On the other hand, I made a promise to my wife and I will keep that promise.
yes it is wrong to make a promise to god and break it..adultry is a weakness ..a character flaw.. it isn't a reflection on the spouse even though they see it that way..but it is a betrayal and i would never abide by adultry but it can be worked out to save a marriage..people get stuck in the anger, the embarrasment and pain their egos can't allow them to heal in time to make an effort to save the relationship..it's a process similar to grieving a deathunderstanding adultery..but that's just me.

Everyone agrees and knows it's a sin. So I wonder why no one imposes any kind of (worldly) punishment for it so people stop doing it.
I think it should be punishable by law, like a jail term or something to compensate the victims.

I think it is wrong and stupid. If you don't want to be monogamous have the decency to tell your partner and cut it loose before taking on another load of drama from someone else's life.
